Various illiterate adults were identified in different habitations.
They neither had the resources nor the time for studies.
They were too old for formal schooling.

Door to Door survey conducted.
Identified 4772 illiterates of 15-35 age group.
Instructors i.e locally educated youth tagged to 10 learners each.
Modules was prepared namely "VANA VACHAKAM".
414 Centres opened.
Chaitanyalahari a weekly bulletin was also supplied to all the centres.
Panchayat wise motivators arranged to mobilized the learners.
NGOs also played a construction role for success of the programme.
Monitoring & Supervision though adoption by Sectoral Officers.
Monitoring was done from habitation level to project level.
