The main objectives of the activity:

  • Create awareness among the Community.
  • Mainstream the Hard Core OSC in the district by attracting them to schools.
  • Mainly cover the slum areas of the towns, remote tribal habitations and fisherman areas.
  • Identifies special educational needs to special groups of the community, ie, migrate people, fisherman, girls etc.
  • Monitor the activities under the Janashala / SSA wherever visits viz.attendance, dropouts, quality etc.
  • Improve quality of Education at the Primary Level by providing academic support i.e, Model lessons, Ideal TLM, Lab, Library, Trainings, Kalajathas etc.



    SCHOOL ON WHEELS: A report

    A project designed to cover the entire district keeping in view its objectives under the Janashala/Sarva Siksha Abhiyan. An old vehicle provided by the ITDA was get repaired. It covers the mandals as per the route approved by the authorities. Two resource persons, One temporary driver and one helper will follow the vehicle.



    Awareness:

    The first and foremost responsibility of the "School on Wheels" is to create awareness among the community. The vehicle where ever visits, The resource persons, the elders of the community, teachers, ICDS workers, educated youth shall organize a community meeting and discuss the objectives of Janashala/SSA. The organizers shall take oath of the community that all the 3-15 age children will be in the school and no children out of the school. They shall also give Education Guarantee to the community.

    The team shall also organize Kalajathas as part of the awareness.



    Academic support:

    The team consisting 2 Resource Persons will extend their academic support by way of giving model lessons with the TLM available in the vehicle. They encourage games among the different age group children to attract them to class rooms. They implement MGT Technology in the schools. They also implement new trends in the field of education.



    Monitoring & Reporting:

    During the visits of the vehicle, the team will monitor the activities undertaken by the mandals/school complexes such as attendance, dropout rate, quality etc. It will report the required information to the District Project Office by taking in the field in the prescribed formats. It will also revise the information at its level such as OSC free habitations, Panchayats, Mandals, OSC lists etc.



    Identification of special education needs:

    The team will identify the educational needs of the community wherever visits and report to the DPO for necessary steps. The project has its own plan to provide education to the Fisherman, Girls, Migrate people, Disabled children and other special groups of the society. The team will chalk out the modalities at the spot and report to DPO for implementation.



    Maintenance:

    The project maintenance will be covered by the Janshala/SSA. Under the maintenance the honorarium of the temporary driver and helper, The TA& DA of the Resource Persons who tours mandal to mandal, Miscellaneous expenses of the driver and helper and the vehicle repairs.



    Support staff:

    The Mandal Educational Officers shall depute 2 RPs to the vehicle during the visit of his mandal. The Mandal Educational Officer and 2 RPs shall organize community meeting. He is the incharge of the various activities to be taken up at mandal level such as where to conduct meeting, Kalajathas and model lessons etc.



    Contribution of Ideal TLM:

    The responsibility of succeeding the programme lies on each and everybody of the teacher community. The Mandal Educational Officers in the TC/SC meetings collect ideal TLM from the teachers to keep them in the Vehicle "School on Wheels".
